AI Comparisons
Gemini Enterprise vs ChatGPT Business vs Microsoft 365 Copilot (2026)

Choosing an AI platform for a company is no longer just a question of which chatbot writes the best answer. The bigger decision is where the assistant gets business context, how it connects to the tools employees already use, which agents it can run, how administrators control data access, and what the complete license cost will be.
This comparison looks at three different approaches: Google Gemini Enterprise app, ChatGPT Business, and Microsoft 365 Copilot. They overlap, but they are not interchangeable. Gemini Enterprise emphasizes a governed agent platform across Google and Microsoft business systems; ChatGPT Business offers a flexible AI workspace with connected apps and workspace agents; Microsoft 365 Copilot is most deeply embedded in Microsoft 365 applications and tenant context.
Pricing and product details checked against official provider documentation on November 1, 2026. Features, regional pricing, usage allowances, and rollout status can change. This is an independent editorial comparison, not a hands-on benchmark of a customer tenant.

1. What each platform is designed to do
Google Gemini Enterprise app
Google positions Gemini Enterprise app as a place where employees can search company information, create content, use ready-made agents, and build their own agents. Google lists connectors for Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, SharePoint, HubSpot, Jira, and other data sources. The no-code Agent Designer is intended to let teams create workflow-specific agents without building everything from code.
The Business edition is aimed at individuals, small businesses, and teams of up to 300 users. Standard and Plus editions target organizations that need more extensive IT controls, higher quotas, third-party agents, and additional security and data-sovereignty features. Google’s October 8, 2026 announcement also introduced a broader Gemini agent concept: one agent interface for knowledge work, content creation, coding, scheduled tasks, and multi-agent orchestration, with model choice and cost controls.
For the separate Google Cloud agent architecture and its technical governance model, see Aiverio’s Google Cloud Gemini Agent profile. Do not assume every announced Google Cloud capability is automatically included in every Gemini Enterprise app edition.
ChatGPT Business
ChatGPT Business is a managed workspace for teams that want ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex in one environment. OpenAI lists connections to Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Microsoft 365, and other supported apps. Administrators can manage workspace access, billing, roles, plugins, and connected tools. The plan also includes workspace agents for customized workflows.
Business now has Standard and Premium seat types. Standard is aimed at everyday work; Premium provides substantially higher usage for demanding work across ChatGPT Work and Codex. Teams can mix seat types instead of paying for premium capacity for every employee. A workspace needs at least two paid seats, and the published self-service offer is designed for teams of 2–200 employees.
ChatGPT Business is the natural fit when employees need a broad assistant that can move between research, writing, analysis, connected apps, and coding. It is not the same product as a fully custom enterprise agent platform with unlimited implementation support; larger organizations should evaluate ChatGPT Enterprise and its custom controls separately.
Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft 365 Copilot is an AI layer built around the Microsoft 365 environment. Its strongest value appears when employees already work in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint. Microsoft describes Copilot as combining chat, work-data search, collaboration, and agents, with Work IQ using information from the organization’s Microsoft Graph environment and connected third-party data.
Microsoft’s agent ecosystem includes agents grounded in public information, agents that use tenant data, and custom agents created through Microsoft’s tooling. Licensing matters: Microsoft 365 Copilot is sold as an add-on to a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription. For basic Copilot Chat users, access to agents that use shared tenant data can require pay-as-you-go billing; Microsoft says agents are included with the Microsoft 365 Copilot Premium license.
Read the dedicated Microsoft Copilot profile for the broader product family. Microsoft’s consumer Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot are not the same license or work experience.
2. Pricing: compare the full bill, not only the headline seat
The following are published US-dollar starting prices on the providers’ official pages. They are not a promise of the exact price in every country, currency, contract, or billing arrangement.
| Plan | Published starting price | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Gemini Enterprise app — Business | $21 per seat/month | For teams up to 300; no IT setup is listed. Includes an agent designer, connectors, built-in security, and pooled storage/indexing. |
| Gemini Enterprise app — Standard/Plus | From $30 per seat/month | Higher quotas, bring-your-own and third-party agents, Gemini Code Assist Standard, and advanced controls such as VPC Service Controls and customer-managed encryption keys. |
| ChatGPT Business — Standard | $20 per seat/month billed annually; $25 monthly | Two-seat minimum. Includes ChatGPT, Work, Codex, supported apps, admin controls, and workspace agents. |
| ChatGPT Business — Premium | $100 per seat/month billed annually; $125 monthly | Higher usage and no five-hour usage limit; mix Standard and Premium seats where appropriate. |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot | $30 per user/month billed yearly; $31.50 monthly | Requires a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription. Agent usage and other services can introduce additional consumption costs. |
For Google, the $21 and $30 figures refer to Gemini Enterprise app editions. Google’s Agent Platform also has separate usage-based model pricing; do not treat a seat license as a blanket allowance for all API calls, code execution, or model consumption. Check the relevant Google Cloud rate card for the services your workflow invokes.
For ChatGPT, do not multiply the Standard-seat price by every user automatically. Some heavy users may need Premium, while others may remain on Standard. Add the cost of any extra workspace credits or consumption beyond included usage. The Enterprise offer is custom-priced.
For Microsoft, the $30 Copilot add-on does not replace the qualifying Microsoft 365 base subscription. Confirm the underlying plan and the licensing rules for any agents that access tenant data. An apparent $30 comparison can be misleading if the company does not already pay for the required Microsoft 365 plan.

3. Integrations and where company context lives
Integration breadth matters less than whether an agent can retrieve the right data under the correct permissions. Gemini Enterprise is attractive to mixed Google-and-Microsoft environments because Google advertises connectors for both productivity suites as well as platforms such as HubSpot and Jira. Its Standard and Plus editions add more options for custom and third-party agents.
ChatGPT Business has a broad connected-app approach, with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, GitHub, and other apps. App availability and actions depend on what an administrator enables, what the provider supports, and which permissions the connected account grants. A connector being listed does not mean every action is available.
Microsoft 365 Copilot has its deepest context in Microsoft’s own productivity environment. Connectors can extend that context, but organizations need to validate permissions before enabling them. Microsoft warns that connector access settings must match the intended data visibility model; incorrectly making a source visible to everyone can expose information beyond the intended audience.
Before rollout, test each platform with two accounts that have different access to the same documents. The assistant should not reveal a file, email, or record to a user who could not access it directly in the source system.
4. Agents, autonomy, and workflow building
Gemini Enterprise app stands out when the business wants an agent gallery and a no-code builder under centralized controls. Business users can design agents for specific workflows, while higher editions add access to custom and third-party agents. Google’s larger Gemini agent announcement describes scheduled tasks, persistent execution, multi-agent coordination, and the ability to route work across eligible Gemini and Claude models. Product edition, availability, and rollout determine which of those capabilities a buyer can actually use.
ChatGPT Business is well suited to teams that want a flexible AI coworker across research, writing, analysis, and connected tools. Workspace agents and team-managed connections allow recurring workflows, but administrators still need to control plugins, connected accounts, and action permissions. Some agent actions may require separate setup or workspace approval.
Microsoft 365 Copilot is most compelling when an agent should operate close to the organization’s Microsoft work. Copilot agents can use Microsoft 365 context, and Copilot Studio supports more advanced agent creation and deployment. Buyers should distinguish included agent entitlements from pay-as-you-go consumption, especially when agents read shared tenant data under basic Copilot Chat licenses.
5. Security, governance, and data boundaries
Do not choose an enterprise AI platform based only on claims about model quality. Check identity, least-privilege access, data retention, audit trails, connector permissions, administrator controls, and whether actions that change business records require approval.
- Gemini Enterprise: Google lists built-in security and governance in the Business edition. Standard and Plus add controls such as VPC Service Controls, customer-managed encryption keys, data residency, and expanded compliance support. Google says business customer prompts and outputs are not used to train models for other customers.
- ChatGPT Business: OpenAI lists SAML SSO, MFA, centralized administration, spend controls, and that business data is not used to train models by default. Enterprise adds more advanced identity, privacy, retention, and residency controls.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot: its value depends in part on the organization’s Microsoft 365 permissions and tenant governance. External connectors must preserve the source system’s intended visibility rules; verify connector permissions and agent access before launch.
For any provider, read the actual contract and data-processing terms that apply to your edition and region. Marketing pages are not substitutes for reviewing retention, residency, audit, and regulated-data requirements with the security team.
6. Which platform should you choose?
| If your main requirement is… | Best platform to evaluate first | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Mixed Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 data, with custom agents | Gemini Enterprise app | Its connector catalogue and no-code Agent Designer are central selling points. |
| A general-purpose AI workspace for a team of mixed roles | ChatGPT Business | ChatGPT, Work, Codex, apps, and workspace agents are available in one managed workspace. |
| Deep work inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint | Microsoft 365 Copilot | It is built around Microsoft 365 applications and work context. |
| Advanced Google Cloud governance and model/platform engineering | Gemini Enterprise Standard/Plus plus relevant Google Cloud services | Higher editions expose additional governance and agent choices; platform usage still needs separate cost planning. |
| More capacity for heavy ChatGPT Work or Codex users | ChatGPT Business Premium | Premium seats provide greater usage without putting every employee on the higher tier. |
| Existing Microsoft licensing and identity investment | Microsoft 365 Copilot | Native context and familiar controls may reduce adoption friction, provided the base subscription is already appropriate. |
7. A practical two-week pilot before buying
Run a controlled pilot rather than buying seats for the whole company based on a product demo. Use the same workflow and acceptance criteria in each environment.
- Choose one repeatable task: for example, prepare a weekly customer-account brief from approved CRM notes, shared documents, and recent email.
- Define the source boundary: list the exact apps, folders, mailboxes, records, and user roles the agent may access.
- Start read-only: let the agent summarize and draft, but require a person to approve messages, record changes, file deletion, external sharing, and purchases.
- Use the same test cases: include normal cases, incomplete source data, conflicting documents, and a user who should not have access to one of the files.
- Score the result: track factual accuracy, source traceability, useful completion rate, human correction time, permission errors, and task duration.
- Measure total cost: add seat licenses, underlying productivity-suite licenses, model or agent consumption, storage, connectors, and admin time.
- Expand only after review: get security and process owners to approve access, audit, escalation, and rollback rules.
A strong pilot is not the one that produces the most impressive one-off answer. It is the one that repeatedly saves measurable time without exposing data or requiring more manual checking than the original process.
Frequently asked questions
Is Gemini Enterprise the same as the regular Gemini app?
No. Gemini Enterprise app is a business platform with company-data connectors, centralized controls, agents, and editions designed for organizations. The consumer Gemini app is a separate product with different plan, data, and administration terms.
Is ChatGPT Business cheaper than Microsoft 365 Copilot?
Its published Standard seat starts at $20 per user per month with annual billing, compared with $30 per user per month for Microsoft 365 Copilot billed yearly. However, Microsoft requires a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription, while ChatGPT Business has a two-seat minimum and usage limits. Compare the full cost of the stack your company needs.
Does Microsoft 365 Copilot include all agent usage?
Do not assume that every agent scenario is unlimited. Microsoft distinguishes basic Copilot Chat from Microsoft 365 Copilot Premium, and agents that access shared tenant data under basic licenses can require pay-as-you-go billing.
Can Gemini Enterprise connect to Microsoft 365?
Google lists connectors for Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint as well as Google Workspace and other business systems. Check the specific connector, permissions, and available actions for the edition you plan to deploy.
Which platform is best for a small business?
There is no universal answer. Gemini Enterprise Business is designed for smaller teams and lists a limit of up to 300 seats. ChatGPT Business is flexible for teams that want ChatGPT, Work, Codex, and apps. Microsoft 365 Copilot is compelling when the business already has a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription and relies heavily on those apps.
Final verdict
There is no universal winner. Gemini Enterprise app is a strong first evaluation for organizations that want a central agent platform across Google and Microsoft data sources and a no-code way to build custom agents. ChatGPT Business is a flexible option for teams that want one broad AI workspace with connected apps, Codex, Work, and workspace agents. Microsoft 365 Copilot is the most natural fit when employees already spend their day in Microsoft 365 and the organization wants AI embedded in those applications.
The decisive question is not which provider has the longest feature list. It is which platform can complete one real business workflow reliably, within the company’s data permissions, at a sustainable cost per accepted result.
